This library was drafted and audited with AI assistance and checked against available publisher records, abstracts, and full texts. It has not had an independent agronomist review. We do not describe the website itself as peer reviewed.
We favor field evidence relevant to home lawns, include multi-year or multi-site studies where available, and label narrower findings. This is a curated critical review, not an exhaustive systematic review or meta-analysis. Older studies remain where they directly answer a question; publication age alone does not establish reliability.
A “Research finding” reports what a paper found. A “Cautious application” or planner “Cautious transfer” explains a limited application to another lawn or setting. A “Practical check” is a record-keeping, safety, or local-verification step, not a tested treatment. These labels do not rate a study’s risk of bias.

What changed, and what remains uncertain
All 19 original sources were checked and retained for bounded uses; 14 sources were added. Several summaries and recommendations needed correction or narrower wording. “Corrected” and “Qualified” below describe changes to this website, not a finding of misconduct or an error in the paper itself.
Study settings corrected. The ryegrass weed trial lasted two years, not three. The later warm-season drought test used one Georgia location, after a separate multi-site screen.
Contrary results restored. The sensor-irrigation trial had a quality failure at its lower threshold; taller TifTuf made more roots despite using more water; dew removal sometimes increased dollar spot. These qualifications now travel with the advice.
Evidence gaps filled. Fine-fescue seeding, tall-fescue brown patch, drought recovery, seed mixtures, and nutrient runoff now have more direct support. New guides cover soil amendments, aeration, and flowering lawn patches.
Search method, access limits, and integrity checks
Searches combined each existing title or DOI with publisher and scholarly records, plus topic searches for mowing, irrigation, drought recovery, nutrients and runoff, grass selection, establishment, weeds, disease, amendments, compaction, and pollinator habitat. Recent research was considered alongside older experiments and reviews. Product marketing and non-turf studies were not used to establish lawn-treatment benefits.
Checks covered citation identity, experiment setting and duration, tested species or cultivars, measured outcomes, conflicting findings, and whether the claimed application followed from the accessible evidence. Single-site, greenhouse, observational, and golf-turf evidence is identified rather than treated as a home-lawn field trial.
Each entry names the material checked. “Abstract and excerpts” means selected accessible methods or results, not a complete full-text review. An abstract can support its reported finding, but cannot verify all methods, statistics, funding, or conflicts of interest. Access to a full text is not independent replication. Raw data were not reanalyzed and risk of bias was not formally scored.
No retraction or scientific correction was identified in the publisher records and notice searches examined. This was not a comprehensive retraction-database clearance. The cool-season drought review does carry a copyright-only correction, noted in its entry. Lack of a notice is not proof that a study is sound.
Remaining gaps include species-specific home-lawn fertilizer rates, local irrigation thresholds, sod and plug establishment, disease diagnosis, and regional validation of the planner. The site does not supply unsupported recipes for those gaps. A named, independent agronomist review is still needed.

Drought resistance and recovery differ among species, cultivars, and sites. Evidence is more extensive for Kentucky bluegrass and tall fescue than for ryegrass or fine fescues.
